Rental Terms & Conditions

1. Driver's Licensing Requirements

A valid driver's licence (Class 7 / 5 or higher) issued in your country of residence is required.

Acceptable licences

• Valid Canadian licence;
• Valid U.S. licence; and
• Valid International licence.

Non-acceptable licences

• An altered or damaged licence; and
• A motorcycle-only licence.

2. Age Requirements

To rent a vehicle, you must be at least 20 years old.

3. Deposit Requirements

A security deposit is required for every rental and can be paid by major credit card, debit, or cash, along with a valid photo ID shown at pickup. The amount of the deposit depends on factors such as the vehicle class, the driver's age, and the type of licence held. We accept debit cards issued outside Canada. Deposits made with cash, debit, or prepaid cards may carry a surcharge. Once a rental ends, cash and debit deposits remain on hold for a minimum of 10 business days.

4. Payment Methods

Accepted security-deposit methods include:

• Visa, MasterCard, and AMEX;
• Debit and Visa Debit;
• Cash; and
• Prepaid electronic cards.

5. Pick-ups & Drop-offs

We serve the entire Greater Vancouver Area, Vancouver International Airport included. Locations further than 10 km from our office may be subject to a fee. If you use our pickup service but do not end up renting a vehicle, a $25 charge applies. Vehicles may be dropped off after hours at any location; however, full responsibility for the vehicle stays with the customer until the company inspects it on the following business day. Standard rental charges apply to late returns.

6. Booked Vehicles

We cannot guarantee that the specific vehicle you reserved will be on hand at pickup. Should that happen, a comparable replacement will be provided.

7. Insurance

Before you drive away, the vehicle is inspected together with one of our representatives, and any pre-existing damage must be recorded on the inspection sheet. Every rental must carry Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) insurance, the cost of which is separate from the base rental rate. If you hold personal insurance of your own, you may use it by providing valid proof of coverage.

8. Rental Agreement

The rental agreement forms a legally binding contract between you and Xpo Rent A Car Inc. Charges for the rental depend on the circumstances and the type of vehicle. By signing the agreement, you confirm that you accept all of its terms.

9. Prohibited Use

Our vehicles must never be used to:

• Transport passengers or goods for payment;
• Push or tow another vehicle, trailer, or any other object;
• Participate in races, speed trials, or competitions;
• Be driven by any person impaired by alcohol, intoxicants, narcotics, or banned substances;
• Carry out a crime or conduct unlawful trade or transport;
• Break any federal, provincial/state, or municipal law; taking the vehicle outside the rental province requires our written consent in advance;
• Travel on gravel, dirt, or other off-road surfaces;
• Be driven by any person whose identity was misrepresented to us; or
• Be driven recklessly or in a way that endangers others.

10. Fines & Penalties

All fines, penalties, forfeitures, and court costs arising from parking or traffic violations are payable by the authorized driver. Any violation must be reported to us without delay, and the customer agrees to indemnify the company. We accept no liability for lost personal belongings. If the customer is at fault in a collision, they are responsible for the cost of towing.

11. Repairs

Repairs may not be carried out, nor liens placed on the vehicle, unless the company has given prior written consent, and the customer bears full liability for repairs. The company may request and obtain credit information. Until the vehicle has been inspected and accepted by the company, the renter remains responsible for any damage it sustains.

12. Taxes

PST & GST are applied at a combined rate of 12%.

13. Additional Charges

• Additional driver — $10.00 per day;
• Underage fee — $19.99 per day; and
• Child seat — $10.00 per day.

Discounted rates apply for extended rental periods.
